Florida Alliance for Art Education

Learning through the Arts
This Canadian website is a wonderful collection of videos that are intended to support classroom teachers by demonstrating how they can implement an arts integrated curriculum. They demonstrate how teachers have integrated the arts into their programs to best meet the needs of their learners . The videos are organized into five subject areas, Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Music and Media Arts. Videos are also clustered as Elementary and Secondary.

The Center for Fine Arts Education in Florida
The Center for Fine Arts Education in Florida is a management company that specializes in providing organizational management and advocacy for nonprofit associations focused on arts education. They manage the Florida Art Educators Association, the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida School Music Association, the Florida Network of Arts Administrators, and the Florida Performing Arts Assessment Project.

Click on CFAE's Advocacy button and you will find Cohort Studies from 2007-2008 and 2010-11. These studies show the relationship between the number of years a student takes a fine arts course and test scores, grades, and dropout rates across all socio economic levels and races. It also has advocacy brochures supporting fine arts, music, and visual arts in schools. The Center for Arts Education in Florida is a website with the latest research on the correlation between dropout rates and student achievement and the numbers of years students were active in the study of the art.

Arts Education Partnership
The Arts Education Partnership, AEP, is a national coalition of more than 100 education, arts, business, cultural, government, and philanthropic organizations established in 1995. It was established through an agreement between the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. Department of Education. AEP is committed to making high-quality arts education accessible to all U.S. students by researching and improving arts education practice. AEP is recognized as one of the leading sources of information about current and emerging arts education research.

On this page you will find numerous papers written supporting the Arts and the Common Core Initiative. The paper titled "The Arts and the Common Core Curriculum Mapping Project" offers a Kindergarten Arts Integration lesson plan unit incorporating Visual Arts, Music, and Film.

ArtsEdSearch.org describes its website as "the nation's first online research and policy clearinghouse focused entirely on student and educator outcomes associated with arts learning in and out of school." In addition to allowing you to search for research by level from Early Childhood to Adult and Lifelong, the Educators section of this site has an excellent list of Professional and Personal Outcomes that can be used for advocacy presentations.

Chicago Arts Partnership for Education
The Chicago Arts Partnership for Education website provides lessons and videos in arts integration along with research.

Americans for the Arts
The Americans For The Arts site includes the Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education Summary Evaluation of the inclusion of the arts in elementary schools. The arts were integrated with classroom curriculum . The studies showed that elementary students in arts integrated schools outperformed students in non arts integrated schools on their math and reading scores on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills . Music CDs for Movement Activities

Music for Creative Dance, Vols. 1-4 (Eric Chapelle - Ravenna Ventures, Inc.)
Each CD has liner notes on the use of each song. Various selections evoke American, Asian, Europian, and African cultures, as well as animal themes.

Brain Dance by Eric Chappelle
This CD contains 8 diverse pieces exploring the BrainDance developed by Anne Green Gilbert. Included are pieces with spoken cues assisting movement as well as completely instrumental pieces. It includes a poster illustrating the basic movements and instructions for using the CD.

Putumayo World Music
Putumayo World Music compilations are theme -based. The themes can be regional (South Africa, Caribbean, Asia) or music types (reggae, folk, Latin, jazz). The Putumayo Kids division has received honours from Parents' Choice Awards and the National Parenting Publications Association.
