Grade 5
Theatre Arts (Musical)

Fifth Grade students and teachers who are part of the Cultural Passport program will have the opportunity to visit the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts to experience a live musical theater performance. Educators understand the importance of providing enough background knowledge to ensure students can fully participate and engage in all that an experience has to offer. This webpage is designed to familiarize you with the selected musical, Rock Odyssey, and give you access to curriculum to guide your instruction as you prepare students for the experience. Thank you for your commitment to the students of Dade County as you allow them to experience all that the Miami-Dade County has to offer.

Curriculum

Rock Odyssey
Rock Odyssey is a fast and funny rock musical version of Homer's Odyssey for families to enjoy together. Travel from the heights of Mt. Olympus to the darkest Mediterranean caves with all the great characters from the greatest adventure tale of them all—the original rock idol Odysseus, his smart and soulful wife Penelope, his boy-band wannabe son Telemachus, the powerful gods Zeus, Athena and Poseidon, the one-eyed monster Cyclops, and the magical temptress Circe. And hear them like you've never heard them before—crooning love ballads and belting out anthems to a killer rock beat.
