Local Component Organizations

Local branches of component organizations hold regularly scheduled inservice for music teachers. They include: Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Vocal Association, Florida Orchestra Association, and the Keyboard Music Educators.

String Training Program
Miami-Dade County Public Schools is committed to providing string training for teachers and students starting in grade 4. Five teachers on special assignments rotate from various elementary schools training teachers to become string teachers. Consequently, string programs are growing and flourishing in Miami-Dade County.

Music Technology Program
Miami-Dade County Public Schools is committed to training music teachers to use technology in the classroom. One teacher on special assignment rotates to various elementary schools training teachers, and familiarizes them with current software to enhance their classroom activities.

Grammy in the Schools
With a mission of defining and exploring various careers in music, Grammy in the Schools offers high school students the opportunity to learn from professionals in the music industry and witness performances by top student musicians. They are introduced to post-secondary career opportunities, seminars, master classes and can even become eligible for college scholarships. This program is sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Inc (NARAS).
