Dade County Music Educators Association (DCMEA)
is the countywide music education support organization for Miami-Dade County, Florida. The association is active in promoting and maintaining the quality of music education through the membership of Miami-Dade County Public School music teachers.
Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA)
is the State component of Music Educators National Conference (MENC). Members are provided professional development, advancement of knowledge and leadership through a variety of means, such as publications, performances, and collaborations with arts advocacy organizations through Florida. A conference is planned annually in Tampa to assist members in becoming familiar with cultural institutions and educational systems beyond their own.
The Keyboard Music Educators Association
was founded in 1989 by a group of concerned piano teachers mainly led by Jackie Alexander. The KMEA name was created then and has continued through the years under committed personnel interested in the advancement of piano music. KMEA is an association who services the needs of students in the Private, Charter, and Public sector of Miami Dade County. The mission of the Keyboard Music Educators Association is to encourage and promote Keyboard Music Education in Miami Dade County, Florida. It will uphold the highest professional standards with regards to keyboard performance, piano repertoire and pedagogy while incorporating the New Generation Sunshine State Standards.
NAfME is the New MENC
MENC has changed its name. MENC is now MAfME (National Association for Music Education). If you go to menc.org you can find a tremendous amount of valuable information.
